Scouts-L Mail Archive for August of 1999: SR 320
Mon, 2 Aug 1999 12:46:26 -0500
It's just after noon and, although I've only had SCOUTS-L set to "mail"
since late last night, I've not seen any reference to Wood Badge SR 320
yet. If there's been a previous posting regarding this, let this be a
confirmation of what I suspect was written before.
On July 24, our SPL Debra Bean led 25 Scouters down to Zastrow to begin
the absolutely BEST week any of us have ever had in Scouting: Wood
Badge SR 320.
During the following week, we learned new techniques, developed new
skills, and experienced a spirituality that can only be understood by
those present. This was not by accident; surely it was by design,
thanks to the staff of SR 320.
Since I've not seen any reference to the quality and professionalism
exhibited by the Staff yet, let me publicly recognize and offer our
sincere thanks to Program Director Gary Stephenson, Senior Patrol Leader
Debra Bean, Scoutmaster Paul Dunaway, and the rest of the SR 320 Staff
for doing their best to insure that the program was delivered. Without
their hard work, dedication, and devotion to the program and all it
implies, this would not have been possible.
As for making it fun, if it had been any more so it would have been
illegal. As for keeping it simple, even I could (finally) understand
Gary, Debra, Paul, and Staff, if you're there, please accept our eternal
thanks for helping to make memories most of us can only wish for. Thank
you for giving your time, talents, and hearts to Scouting so that our
boys can reap the benefits of our efforts. And to the other 24 Scouters
who attended SR 320, let us never forget to meet what we were challenged
by the Staff: Deliver the program in the best manner possible; the
Scouts deserve it. Let us never forget the blessings we have had
bestowed upon us. Let us always do our best, as we were taught.
