A few corrects to what you stated in an otherwise excellent post.

The picture of a Venturing Crew flag from the latest catalog shows it to be
half yellow and half white, with the Venturing diamond logo in the center.

Not anymore. Earlier Jamboree flags did this until 1985. They were just
like the Troop flag, as you said, being half red, half white with the Jambo
logo in the center. Starting in 1989, the flags would have the large
Jamboree logo on a single color flag, no more half red/white like the troop
