>I can not think of any reason that a troop would allow so many adults
How about parents sharing a unique and meaningful experience with ther
sons? That seems a good reason to me. In the times we live in, it just
isn't cool to be seen with mon or dad, but somehow at camp its ok.
Our troop took 64 boys and 20 adults to camp this summer (moms and dads).
There was no problem with interference because all the adults were
"counseled" before we left, and as needed at camp. We always offer SM
fundamentals during camp for the new parents, just tell them they are
going to take it, and don't give an option. We go mainly our of council,
and its amazing the number of adults from other troops that haven't taken
SMF and flock to go through it with out newbies. Try it sometime, it's a
great activity for the adults at camp.
It seems to me that a lot of folks are intimidated by numbers. We have
125 +/- boys and 50 (approx) registered adults. This is an opportunity
to achieve greatness...not a liability. If you have a good program, you
will attract numbers..and bigger numbers mean more resources for an even
better program. Don't be afraid to succeed folks....take advantage of
ALL the folks you can sign up and get to go with you.
