Scouts-L Mail Archive for June of 1999: Roundtable
Wed, 30 Jun 1999 18:05:05 -0700
Hi, I am also a Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner who is looking for
ways to get more leaders to out meetings. We get between 40-70 Scouters at
our meetings. This may seem like a lot but we have 14000 registered cub and
boy scout leaders in our district. We do a break-out session each month
that range from life/eagle changes, youth protection training, CRT
training, web to scout trans, MB counselor training and troop invitational
training. We do a yearly survey in March to see what out leaders want and
need for the next year. Leaders can also suggest topics for this survey.
This fall we will be doing split sessions during our RT's. We have never
done this before. We bring in experts from the area whenever we can. We had
Crime prevention Officers and Doctors speak to us. I am even establishing
more exchange with the cubs to get advancing leaders. One person suggested
asking those that do not come, why. I write an article for our council
newsletter each month.
I am checking into radio time or newspaper articles, but our budget is the
big zero. if you are a boy scout round table commissioner I'd like to find
out what you do and will send you what we do. Maybe we can start a support
group to help us all out.
Those of you who do not attend Roundtable- Please drop me a line and tell
Thanks for your help,
Boy Scout RT Commissioner
