So was he really worthy of being an Eagle?

When do you have to have the spirit? When you receive the award or for the
rest of your life? Do you want all Eagles to undergo a periodic review and
if they no longer show Scout spirit take their award back? The only
negative (besides his untimely passing) was that he didn't live up to a
INFORMAL 1 year commitment to remain a scout.
The scout made Eagle and decided to experience other things that life had to
offer. Let's not forget that there is more to life than Scouts (GASP).
High school football, band, and other extracurricular activities can all
provide positive (and negative) learning experiences.
Unfortunately this child's time here was not long. I hope that his life was
full of joy and happiness, and that when the times were bad for him his
experiences were able to give him the strength and hope he needed
