store. They are used on military ribbons to indicate multiples of the same
At 50 miles of hiking, they get a "star" for that hiking badge. Cost of
these service stars is about one dollar each.
My experience after 4 to 5 years of doing this is that the Scouts seldom
display these awards. On the other hand, if I missed someone, and don't have
the award for the SPL to present, The Scout in question is in my face
quickly, and asking me to check the records. Yes, I have made those
mistakes, and the Scouts seem to forgive.
I would be interested in hearing what others might do to recognize service
hours, above and beyond requirements.
