There are two possible approaches I can see:
1. If teachers are willing to volunteer the time to counsel, why do you
automatically assume that asking them to attend YPT would be out of the
question? I think if presented positively most people are willing to go,
especially if your council trainers make sure that the training is
interesting and perceived as beneficial. Most people who are willing to
work with kids are also willing to go to training as long as they see it as
a positive benefit.
2. Most, if not all, school districts require their teachers to go through
training which covers the same ground as YPT and many times in much greater
depth. Your Council Advancement Committee might want to find out from the
local school district what kind of training is required and see if the
Council can accept this as an alternative to YPT.
