With due consideration of your troop status and resources at any point in
time, we(our troops active leadership in that was those who showed up)
always made some badges sort of show up just befort or during some meetings
(like the citizen badges or safety, etc)
The summer camp badges were allowed to accumulate among the boys with some
guidance and we were alway amazed at the assorted other choices we were able
to accomodate like Law, Cinematography, Journalism, Vet science etc...
With an slightly higher that average (just works out that way and we
have had some lean years) Eagle Scout achievement ,our scouts are able
to get all the merit badges they can hold. but most of them accumulate the
badges outside of the troop meeting structure, which is pretty much guarded
by the PLC leadership who have learned the valu of time.
"The Scoutmaster who talks the most looses the most boys"(Old SM Handbook)
"Never do a job a boy can do."
Important words from those who've been there
Commissioner(soon emeritus) and pretty good (with two o's)ole Owl
