Kevin and others,
This discussion came up at a recent College of Commissioner Science that
I taught at. Many of the Scouters going through the course thought that
National looks down on teaching MB's in Troop Meetings, but in actuality,
it is promoted. The only thing is, your Troop SHOULDN'T be using MB's as
your primary program for most of your mtgs. We try to attack one MB
every 3 months in our Troop. Sometimes we don't do it quite so often.
We have also taken a meeting and gone to the Police Station and earned
our Fingerprinting MB. So with that, we not only earned a MB, but
offered a different setting for our meeting that week. The Scouts
enjoyed it. The main thing is, don't forget about the teaching of
Scouting Skills. That should still be the main focus of your meetings,
but don't boar the Scouts with the same old same old.
Just my .02.
BTW---Thanks for all of the help and ideas on recruiting UC's. I hope
the hints work for my District and Council.
