National has to worry about licensing agreements whether they are using
Garfield, Elmo, Popeye or any other commercial character. They can't just
use a character because they decide they want to. I suspect that the=
folks gave agreeable terms plus Garfield is a recognizable character who=
marketable to Cubbies. I agree that adults attach negative connotations to
Garfield, but do kids? Elmo might work better, but I have heard that the
Seasame Street people protect their intellectual and creative property to
the highest degree.

SR320 is open to all qualified Scouter and still have a few places left!!
