Nope. The "plain" service stars (used before 1970) are just a five-pointed
star with NOTHING in the center. No blue "number thing", no number.
Before the BSA purchased those new stars, a Scout or Cub had to literally
wear several year pins to achieve the "years of tenure" which is why many of
the Scouters that wear all of their year pins do so....it was a habit.
As soon as I can, I'll fix the links to my website to put those year pin
illustrations back up there....I don't know what I did with them and why
they don't work, but they don't. I show a plain year pin and a year pin
with a number on that site.
