. . . I have never seen a "plain" service star pin. Does this mean blank?
. . .
It has been more years than I would like to admit since I have seen a
"plain" service star pin; but it is (was) exactly that -- plain. It had no
little number inside a colored circle in its center, the little raised
"spines" along its arms met there instead in a small raised point.
When I was a Cub (in mumble, mumble, nineteen fifty-mumble) we were awarded
a new blank star pin each year, so a boy who went all the way through Wolf,
Bear, Lion wore three plain stars with yellow disks on his shirt.
I do not know if this was official uniform policy, or if this was my Pack
policy, but that was the way it was. Please do not tell me that this was
the wrong way to have done things -- there is nothing that can be done to
correct it now, the Pack does not even exist now.
