shootings in Littleton, CO

I gotta agree with Dr. Mike. Kudos to you for your
clear headed thinking and for speaking up.
While I totally agree that the "Right To Bear Arms"
has been "used" by the gun idolizers, I will leave that
hot potato alone.... this time.
Children under the age of 18 have no, absolutely no
reason to be able to buy or carry guns. I am sick and
tired of the gun lobby's and NRA's rhetoric re: if we
pass one law restricting gun ownership then we will
pass another and another and so on. Come on!.
Is the NRA so selfish, so headstrong, so single-purposed
that they can't see the need/reason to cancel
their gun show in Denver? Do they care more about the
people of the land and their sense of security (as they
use as an excuse to promote gun laws) or arming every
citizen in the country? This could be their opportunity
to show us what they really care about.
Well, I hope they're happy. Those boys were sure
armed weren't they? They were their own little militia.
The Littleton shootings were a tragedy nobody wished for.
Hopefully, this massacre will give people the oomph
they need to stand up to the gun lobby and fight to
restrict gun laws in this country.
It is TOO EASY for children (actually anybody) to buy
and own a gun to kill somebody in anger. I'm sure
the gun lobby doesn't want to see anymore of our children
shot dead. Why not show us that you care about our
children and help?
As Scouters we should be in the forefront of the fight
to make gun laws tougher for children to get ahold of one.
We Scouters should make a statement and show the
country that Scouts stand for sensible laws to protect
our children, our teachers, our people.
Fellow Scouters please write, call or email your local
congressmen and congresswomen, your senators,
Governors and even the President to voice your approval
of keeping guns out of the hands of children.
Let's not let these children and teachers die in vain.
As Dr. Mike stated I welcome private, positive, non-flame
responses. However, I will post to the list any flames
fired my way. Let's discuss this as adults.
Now, if only I can get this posted today. It is already
9:05 a.m. Too late already?
Yours In Scouting,
Twin Rivers Council
