This is the very first requirement listed for the rank of Eagle Scout:
Be active in your troop and patrol for at least 6 months as a Life Scout.
If being active in your troop means that you just have to have your name on
the roster, then our percentage of Eagle Scouts should be much higher than
it is today.
I believe that the young man has to be "active" in his troop. No, he doesn't
have to attend every meeting or outing. But he has to at least make the
effort to attend troop functions.

man and the 2 of them should be able to come up with a solution that meets
I have a scout who is very active in sports in high school, works part time,
is in the high school band and he the local OA Chapter Chief. He still makes
many troop functions & meetings. He brings his scout shirt to meetings after
football practice. Yes, he smells kind of funny, but he makes the effort to
be there. And plus he is an honor student. So it can be done. He is an
excellent example to the younger scouts in the troop.
Just my 2 cents...
