BTW I forget if I responded to your request (i dont keep very good track and
shoot from the hip a lot but
I didnt allow adult patrols as SM because I needed the adults that came
along for specific activities and I coached them to use their demeanor and
individual charcater attibute to set examples for scouts as situations
presented themselves .
I have been involved at all levels of scout leader training as student,
staff and course director and I have observed that adults in patrols (like
during SM fundamentals or even woodbadge) ingage in adult behaviors from
time to time that I know is ingrained into their time and place...whereas
boys are still developing and will be influenced by adult role modeling.
Its hard to serve two masters... the spirit of mentorship and the
brotherhood of peer group...
