Scouts-L Mail Archive for April of 1999: Catapult
Wed, 14 Apr 1999 10:37:20 -0400
It's been a very long time since I've posted anything to this list... so
I'll take a brief moment to 're-introduce' myself... ASM to Troop 82 in
Lagrangeville NY... I have been involved w/ this troop for over 10 yrs,
with 4 yrs involvement in the Pack prior to Scouts... I am currently on
Council Internal Communication Cmte, involved w/ creating our districts web
page. I was on the Council Camping Cmte as my districts Scout Camp
Coordinator. I just recently finished with the first part of WB Training
back in the fall and am actively working on my Ticket... "da Bears!!!!"....
Now on to the request: Our district is having it's spring camporee soon
and we were notified last night at RoundTable of an event involving the
scouts building a Catapult. The event would test the catapult's ability to
launch a basketball for distance... Of course all the necessary safety
rules will be in place... What I'd like to know is of any sites or plans
available for catapult construction. The Scouts will have to assemble the
catapult that afternoon, they can not bring it already assembled. They can
do a dry run assembly prior to the event to ensure it all goes together as
So anybody know of any sites that have catapult construction ideas? Or
does anyone have plans already they could share w/ me?
Please send responses off-line from this list. I will post the results
Thanks - YiS!
