I would strongly recommend against silk-screening your troop t's for one
reason: they will not stand up to use and washing. They will look lousy in no
time, and you want to have them be your troop's identity for more than a week!
I hasten to add, I have no financial stake in whether or not you do this, but
allow me to recommend that you contact the guy who does our troop t's, using
a heat-transfer method that still looks great four years old. He works w/
people all over the country. He's an old Scouter who does this as a second
career after retiring from the military.
You can send/fax him a design, or ask for a standard one, and he manipulates
it on his computer 'til it looks GREAT, then sends it over the wire to
somebody in Kansas (!) who makes the heat transfers and o'nights them back to
him-- any size (large for the whole back of a sweatshirt, to teeny for a
small breast pocket application). He has a cellar full of pizza boxes w/ heat
transfers for troops, packs, civic organizations, restaurants, golf clubs,
you name it, and can make something up for you in no time. Once you're in his
pizza box collection <G> he can get something out to you on one day's notice.
Uses the best quality Hanes Beefy-tees, heavywt sweats, golf shirts, hats,
neckerchiefs, fanny packs, aprons, whatever you want. Prices are EXTREMELY
reasonable--- we were getting t's for about $6, heavy hooded sweatshirts for
$19, hats for $5. Will overnight them to you. I used to fax him new orders
around crossover time and get neckerchief blanks to him to put the troop logo
on-- order in on Monday, on my doorstep Thurs am for the meeting that night.
Several of the troop around here use his services and they all look great in
His name is Don Borowski, Eagle Color Products, telephone 508-477-0006, fax
477-4014. Used to have an 800 # but I don't know if it's still on--
