I second the motion!
My wife (with a little help from our Troop Committee) built six 22ft
Souix-style tipis for our JLTC program. The Laubin's book was her entire
resource and the tipis have worked great.
I would also like to suggest another resource:
An article named "Tipi Know-How" by Bill Walter. I don't have any idea
which magazine published it (someone sent me a xerox copy of pages 81-100
of some unknown magazine-size publication). It is an excellent treatment
of the how-to's and how-not-to's of using tipis. It is well-written and
well-illustrated. I would love to know where it was published.
An intro to the article lists Bill and Lila Walter as owners of "Four
Seasons Tentmasters", so perhaps this good resource could be traced back
that way. Bill is obviously a Buckskinner (black powder folks) and the
article might be from one of the publications serving that interest group.
If anyone can tell me where this article came from or when it was written,
I would appreciate it.
Tipis are truly wonderful shelters...and they do great for static Patrol
camping! Putting one up can be one of the best team-building experiences
that a Patrol ever has <g>.
