Ok, where are all the great minds on this one.
I have been patiently waiting for someone to address
this one. But I can't wait no longer!!!
If there is anywhere on the _net_ that supports the military,
THIS list-serv is it. I do not believe the concern is noise,
although it may be irritating, it could be tolerated. I also do
not believe it is sight, since my boys would have an adrenaline
rush when a jet is only 300 feet above their head.
I have ran out of things to be concerned about, unless maybe
we look at safety. Personally, I have never been to Philmont so
if this does not pertain to the area in question, just let me know.
When a boy is climbing(I'm shooting that this is allowed at
Philmont) on the side of a cliff and a jet flies by(speed ??? /
distance ???), could this cause an accident?
I have been reading the thread on "the great phone in"
sounds like a lot of kids out there during the year. Lots of
scouts/scouters plus jets as low as 300 feet equals a volatile
mixture. Close your eyes and imagine the headlines.
This is purely a safety issue in my book(maybe a hint of nuisance).
As I stated in a private e-mail I would rather hear that the last whooping
crane was killed by a jet crash in the marsh, than a Boy Scout troop
was wiped out.
I know there are allot of military people on this list and I am not
sure how easy it is to voice your personal opinion on this. I am also
not sure if this list is the correct forum for this discussion. I would
like to hear from scouters who know the Philmont area this pertains
This is the second time I have posted today and I do not pride
myself on my writing nor my command of the English language.
So I am crawling back to my corner, till roused again.
