This reminds me of a question I've wondered about. How do troops or packs
chartered by the "Concerned Parents of Troop 000" solve internal conflicts?
Our troop is chartered by a church, but we have some internal conflicts that
I can imagine being much more difficult and painful if we were
"self-chartered." Our chartering organization stays arms length from us,
but if we ever had to settle an argument about how to operate the troop, I'd
take it to them and go with their decision.
However, if the troop chartering organization is a committee of concerned
parents, it seems like certain problems between Scoutmaster and committee,
Scoutmaster and parents, or committee and parents are not going to be
impartially reviewed. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Part of the reason is I'm curious because I'm thinking of starting a
Venturing Crew. The church might be willing to charter it, or they might
not. If not, then we could go the "concerned parents" route.
