Brutal Slaying of Pheasants

Nick wrote about plans to brutally slay six innocent birds. I replied to him:
Well, I happen to agree with you.....but what are all these knives sticking
in my back!? :-)....you'll take heat for it, that's for sure.....and some
of the scouts will be appalled that food ACTUALLY has to be killed
(somehow) before they eat it.
On the otherhand, you'll be doing many of them a favor by making them
appreciate and "think through the process" of exactly where their food
comes from. It isn't actually much different than cleaning a fish, is it?
EDUCATION of the scouts AND ESPECIALLY the parents of scouts should be done
ahead of time....tell them exactly what the goals of the event are and how
it will be done. Plan an activity for scouts who don't want to be in on
the killing that conincides with that portion of the process....that way
they will have an option.
