The words to "On My Honor"
On my Honour I will try
There's a duty to be done and I say 'AYE'
There's a reason here for a reason above
My honour is to try and my duty is to love.
Friendship is the strangest thing
If you keep it to yourself, no joy will it
If you give it away and you give it to me
From now on great friends we'll be.
I've tucked away a song or two
If you're feeling low there's one for you.
If you need a friend then I will come
There's plenty more were I come from.
Come with me where the fire burns bright
We can even see better by candle light
You'll find more meaning in a campfire's glow
Than you'll ever find in a year or so.
We've made our promise to always keep.
And a song "Day is Done" before we sleep,
We'll be Boy Scouts together and when we're
We'll still be a-trying to sing this song.
A Cub Scout Trainer Woodbadge Version of the above song:
I will promise to DO MY BEST,
to remember always this is not a test.
To do my duty to God and this land,
to be a friend to every worman and man.
I will promise to obey the LAW,
to follow the PACK and AKELA.
The Cub Scout helps the PACK to go,
The PACK helps the Cub Scout to grow.
Cub Scouts rememeber if you will,
that the Cub Scout gives good will.
The MOTTO, the PROMISE and the LAW we say,
helps to lead us in the Scout way.
