You are correct about the patch placement. What we did was
to buy the FULL size metal AOL badge as well as the patch AND the
miniature AOL mother's pin.
We presented all three in the AOL ceremony. The mother's
pin went to a parent's lapel. The AOL metal badge was pinned to
the pocket and the cloth badge was presented with the explanation
that it was to be worn "while a Boy Scout."
