I'd just like to thank all of you who have responded. I received many
really good suggestions on where to buy the material, what to use as the
char cloth, how to get the glow of the char to ignite the tender, ...
I think it is interesting that Jas. Townsend <http://www.jastown.com/>
was the only that was offered as a source for the material. Their
website offers an abundance of colonial period clothing and implements.
The $12 fire-starting kit contains three pieces of flint, high carbon
steel striker, char cloth, flax tender, and two tins.
Also, James A Lindberg (email@example.com) sells a similar lit for $10.
