Actually, the troop I was in as a youth member had 4 patrol names not made as a patrol patch by national:
Lynx : Used the Bobcat patrol patch sometimes though
Fox: Used the Wolf patrol patch (which national has since made BLUE, who knows why)
And finally the coveted Leadership Corps Patrol name:
Kheke, which is a word meaning footprint in the sand (what language specifically has be lost to time). he patrol logo was an inverted horse shoe with 3 links of chain above the horsshoe (for the 3 points of the scout law).
All patrols were allowed to choose a name from these 4 after the leadership corps program was dropped, and all 4 are illustrated in the Troop Coat of Arms.
The troop has always used only these 4 names as patrol names, and we always have stood out at camporees with our patrol flags passed down and added to. Not to
mention our Kheke Patrol yell "What's a Kheke?" :)
