We inherited three old Eureka! tents from another troop and two of them
had this problem. One had numerous holes in the sides and the floor from
being stabbed by a knife (while in the bag - unhappy camper I guess).
We sent them all to Eureka! for repair. They put new zippers in for free
and charged us only a few dollars for patching the tent with holes. The
patches have "factory" applied seam tape and are completely waterproof.
It also appears they reinforced two of our stake loops that were
marginal - though we did not report them as needing repair.
We were not the original owners and we told them so when we sent the
tents in. We also wrote our letter on Troop stationary and had all the
boys sign it. I don't know if these things helped, but the tents are as
good as new now for the cost of shipping and a very modest repair charge
for the knife-abused tent.
I will buy all Eureka! tents in the future.
