I hadn't thought of that. It is true that the official Scout campaign
hat (Smokey Bear hat) is nearly identical to the military one worn by
drill instructors at Basic Training and doubtless in other specific
settings. In fact any number of Scouters in fact wear military
surplus campaign hats.
While BDU pants, which may be defined as Olive Drab cargo-pocketed
non-BSA issue pants, are not BSA uniform, neither are they any
current daily wear military uniform item. To me they are equally
acceptable as blue jeans, and are more utilitarian. I may have to go
buy some, as the official pants are useless in the woods.
