My own personal feeling is that I and many other adults are volunteering
their time and energy to help coordinate, advise, raise funds for, ferry
boys to, etc. a program which should follow the Scout Oath, Law, and
Motto. If the boys decide to do anything they want, and if it doesn't
follow Scouting principles, it's nothing more than a group of boys doing
their own thing. While there's nothing wrong with that, depending on
what "their own thing" actually turns into, I'm pretty sure I and most
of these adults could find something better to do with our time. And I
would expect that the chartering organization could find a better use of
I made sure the boys knew my position on this and let them decide
accordingly. I'm still here :>)
