You need to use a non-slip lashing material.
In Malaysia, they still use bamboo for construction scaffolds - they go all the
way up 30+ story buildings with the stuff. There is rarely an accident, though
it looks scary as all heck. They lash with strands from a native fiberous plant
- it's not even rope yet, just the long "leaves" of the plant.
I would try jute - packing twine - as lashing material for bamboo.
Nylon rope would definately be too slippery.
