Scouts in Ads

In response to my request, quite a few scouters did indicate that they
had seen the ad and where they were located. With such nationwide
and long term exposure one can only conclude that it was
not an accident to have such wide and coordinated exposure.
I hope that BSA did benefit financially by such implicit
endorsement of the commercial.
I cannot help but think that they are aware of the questions that
have arisen by allowing BSA to appear in commercials. By their
silence they have created a situation whereby if a district or council
chose to appear in a commercial they would have a weak hand
in their attempt to control a local commercial.
Irving needs to come on line and clairfy what they have allowed
to happen. If in fact it is a new tack to raise money they at least owe
us the courtesy of explaining what they have done. It is not so much
that what they have done is not ok as the ad does show scouting in
a good light. It is their silence in explaining what they did that
is so troubling.
Here are some of the places where folks reported seein the ad.
Marco Island, Florida
Pleasant Hill/Concord, Calif
Garden City, KS
