Enough already!!! I've gotten at least 30 replies to my question, which
I appreciate--but let's save bandwidth now and move on. I appreciate the
many replies. To summarize--Most cite 3 problems with laser pointers:
eye damage (how severe is a matter of some disagreement)
annoyance (on this there was no disagreement at all)
danger of misinterpretation of a red dot appearing on one's chest,
especially in the case of police officers, trigger happy gangsters, or
freemen-style militiamen (a possibility that hadn't occurred to me).
IN any case, I have still not had a convincing answer as to why a kid
would want to bring one on a cmaping trip in the first place. What's the
point? It may be a fad in some places aorund the country, but it
certainly isn't here--at least it hasn't been a problem in my troop.
Sounds like another of my many blessings....
Anyway, thanks for the posts, all. Next subject?
