Pete Johnson, Scoutmaster of Troop 312, Columbia SC Indian Waters Council
COLUMBIA -- Memorial services for Norman Peter "Pete" Johnson, 59, will be
held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at St. Simon and St. Jude
Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service at
the church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, is in
charge. Memorials may be made to St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church,
1110 Kinley Road, Irmo 29063 or Boy Scout Troop 312 in care of the church.
Mr. Johnson died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. Born in Kansas City, Mo., he was a
son of the late Norman P. and Helen Pahnke Johnson. He was a member of St.
Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church, a former vestry person and Sunday
School teacher. Mr. Johnson received a Ph.D. from Perdue University and was
a professor at the University of South Carolina Medical School, a
Scoutmaster of Troop 312, a recipient of the Episcopal Church of the United
States of America St. George's Medal for Leadership with Youth and an
advisor for the Order of the Arrow.
Surviving are his wife, Eudora "Nell" Baker Johnson; son, Preston Johnson
of Atlanta; sister, Helen Kroeger of Kansas City, Kan.; brother, William P.
Johnson of Tacoma, Wash.
