Our Pack has done all of these with no problem!
A boy shouldn't have to wait for recognition of his advancements. Every
month, from Sept. through May, we have awards.
>From June through August, we have a summer program. We offer two events
per month so that each Cub has the chance to earn the Summertime pin. In
June we have a Bike Rodeo and trip to our local team's baseball game. In
July we have a Raingutter Regatta and a family fun night at FunScape. In
August we have a picnic and a family fun night at a local Putt-Putt course.
We also let the boys count summercamp toward their pin.
We have always run under the idea that the Pack meeting is for the "boys".
We let them "show off their stuff". They put on skits and songs. We also
have a show-off table where each den can bring in projects they have worked
on. As well as showing off their stuff, each den takes a turn cleaning up
after the Pack meeting. This teaches them responsibility.
We used to do 50/50 raffles, but that has pretty much ended on its own.
Why does your committee think your ideas won't work?
