I've been getting the postings from a SCOUTS-L for a few months now and
there are days when it's overwhelming to have 50 or 60 e-mail messages
arrive on my doorstep.
There have been many fantastic topics that have raised my level of
consciousness, but I can't believe the nitpicking that seems to go on.
i.e.-"scout scouts be reimbursed for money in their individual scout account
when they leave the troop", after all I assume that they would expect a bank
to give them their money if they decided to change banks. And all this
stuff about whether they can count the nights at scout camp if they didn't
pitch the tent themselves. Are we really that petty that they sleep in a
pre-pitched tent at camp when, after all these other nights of camping they
should be well versed in setting up a tent. I wonder how many of the people
raising these issues could handle being subjected to the same extreme
standards of "letter of the law" verses intent of the law.
By now I assume I am going to get lots of hate mail, so lets finish up by
saying that while you think "Joe" did a great job and contributed many years
to scouting, tell those people that knew him that he is talking to
Baden-Powell, personally i have better things to do than killing him again
with my "delete" key.
If you want this list to grow, then lets keep on track with the issues and
topics and cut out the personal stuff.
