I suspect the rule is in place so a "selectively quoted" post can be
allowed through but mindless reposting of an entire digest can be stopped.
On another list, I received an extremely informative and helpful post
that ran to over 11K. Next day, the list was favored by a 13K post,
which quoted the ENTIRE 11K post and added to it -- a few messages down
was a 17K post, quoting both the two previous in full, and the third day
was a 14K post quoting the first one in full and adding to it. The
unfortunate thing was -- each addition was something I wanted to keep, so
I couldn't just dele the post. :(
Still, I do prefer enough quoted material so I can figure out what's
being disagreed with. (g) I don't think any of us see so few messages
each day that we can actually keep track of 'em all in our heads!
