I have what I consider to be "not quite the normal" spread of ages in my
Webelos I den. The Scorpions (my older Webelos den) had the oldest Scout
turning 11 this past September, with most of the boys turning 11 between
November and April. We tentatively scheduled the crossing over in
February at the Blue and Gold and we have, for the most part (only a
LITTLE last minute hustle on a couple guys part) kept on track.
The Raccoons, on the other hand, begin turning 11 this June and all but
three are 11 by September, one turns 11 in Nov. and the youngest ones are
young by quite a bit (April and May birthdays).
In my mind, I see us finishing Webelos II in December, the earliest the
two youngest boys can go , AS LONG as they earn the Arrow of Light. I
don't want to hold the others from Boy Scouts too long. I could take most
of them to Boy Scouts in September, leaving a den of 3 - and probably
losing those 3 boys to Scouts. (I don't see a parent of those 3 boys
stepping forward to lead the den).
What say ye?
