Scouts-L Mail Archive for February of 1999: Venture-Exploring

At the risk of being told to ask this on the Venturing list, I will try one
more, semiphilosophical question.
I have recently seen the Explorer E depicted without the small Scout symbol on
it. I assume this is because the E has gone to live with Learning for Life.
However, if Venturing is part of the BSA program (not part of the Boy Scout
program but of Boy Scouting's parent: the BSA) why did the great minds in
Irving, Texas leave the Scout symbol off of the Venturing logo? It really
looks empty (to me) without it being there (say it the bottom corner, in the
"V"). And it would appear to violate the current BSA insignia regs that
require the words "Boy Scouts of America", "BSA" or the fluer-de-lis to be on
Just a question.
