It's been 8 or 10 years since I was on our Council Camping Committee but we
were talking about this then. Towards the end of my tenure there we sent a
recommendation to the Council Exec. Board to raise camp fees extra each year
with the extra going to raise wages. Don't think they followed through.
There's no way we'll be able to offer a competitive wage with McDonalds,
canning factory, construction, or tourism industry. Camp fees would have to
be too high. But we can pay more than minimum.
These guys are there because they want to be there but they also have to
think of their personal finances.
