Hi all. As I recall, when I was CM for a pack of about 90 boys the way we
handled food at B&G (and also our Holiday banquet) was as follows:
Leaders and parents manned one side of the buffet line to serve portions to
the boys who were called up by dens. The purposes were 1) to keep the food
from being slopped around and 2) to dole out reasonable sized portions to
avoid unnecessary waste, and 3) it kept the line moving fairly well. Then the
adults, including the servers, and older siblings took their turn at getting
food (no servers now use both sides of the table) and then after everyone had
a chance for firsts the line was open for seconds.
Worked pretty well for us, season to your taste.
