I'm Growing Old and Feeble . . .

Ah the words take on more meaning with age. Last weekend I was on the staff
at the National Capital Area Council's PowWow. My job was to teach sessions
on religious emblem programs. During one of the sessions a particpant asked
about the Great Scoutmaster closing. In exuberance, I proceeded to
demonstrate ending with the words "and may the great webmaster of all Scouts
be with us until we meet again." The words were out before the old brain
kicked in and then sheer terror. However, not one of the leaders in the
room reacted or batted an eye. I do hope that this accidental variation
doesn't get very far.
And yes we did have a Wood Badge beading ceremony at Pow Wow with nearly a
dozen Scouters presented with their regalia. All of the verses of the Wood
Badge song were rendered. For the folks trying to eat lunch in the
cafeteria this ended up as a good chance to see some fun and ask questions
about Wood Badge of the 90 or so Wood Badge trained Scouters that were in
the room. Then there were a few that were looking a little shell shocked at
all the singing.
Kudos to George Costigan (from our list) for all the work he did in getting
things running smoothly.
