Cool vs. Dweeby

Yes, youngsters participate in soccer, or baseball, or football, or
crew, etc. - but all in their season. But there are usually more
observers than participants. Few, actually, do!
The point is that Scouts are participants. That's the selling point!
Our Scouts do the sports things, but as Scouts they Whitewater, Spelunk,
Ski, Rock Climb, Sail for a week off of Florida, and Hike 7-12,000 ft
mountains in New Mexico (as well as school sports). They've been to
Alaska, Alberta, Thunder Bay, and Prince Edward Island. One even did
the whole AT.
If that's what our "dweebs" do I'll match it against most of those
"cool" non-participating observers. Don't sell the steak, sell the
sizzle. Take and post the photos. Publicize what you will do and what
you've done. (I think BSA has a good HA poster on that subject.)
Our team uniform is as "cool" as a football uniform. A backpack as
impressive as a shoulder pad - and a smile with a full set of teeth
"sexier" than one with chips and gaps.
