+AD4-So how prevalent is the use of personal tents
The boys supply their own tents. I am a gear junkie and have equipment to
loan newer scouts to get them started. I encourage the new scouts to bunk
with an older scout to learn the ropes and wait to get a tent until they see
the good and bad points of the other scouts choices. I've found that the
first Christmas after a boy joins a lot of camping gear shows up.
+AD4-Also, let me know how you handle other equipment, such as
+AD4-stoves, lanterns, cook sets, utensil sets, water jugs, tarps,
The troop owns a lantern and the tail end of a cook kit (the rest got lost
before I came along)
We use my stuff alot. First because I have it and second because I feel
that any funds raised should go toward getting them to summer camp. So far
we haven't had more then +ACQ-50 in Sept. to use as seed money and everything
we earn get a boy to camp.
