Christmas parade - KISMIF

Sherri: We also are planning the annual Christmas Parade and found that
walking the Cubs around the route the first year was pretty tiring for the
younger ones. Last year we borrowed one dad's welding truck (redone,
antique and what a beaut!) and we rode on it. We use the Parade's theme
and do something simple. Soemthing that can be done in the hour or so you
spend waiting in line for your turn to go. Last year, we were the Land of
the Misfit Toys and the boys dressed up as Toys.
If you don't have a theme to follow (we can't have any live Santa's in
ours) - pick a story book theme, show a campsite theme, elf hats are easy
We used sheets for snow - DON"T buy that spray snow; it's a chemical
cocktail and the parents about had a cow last year when we tried to use it
and it got all over the boys, truck etc.
We strung lots of lights on the rails of the truck - you can get lights
that plug into the cigarette lighter now. Lots of flags are good. We
covered flashlights with colored crepe paper one year we walked.
If you're a church group, the Nativity is always good. Just pick a theme,
and let the boys be creative.
