This year we plan to have our normal pack meeting activities of opening, skit,
songs, closing, etc., but we also plan to have the Pack split up into groups
of approx. 2 Dens per group. At some point after the opening we plan to send
the groups out caroling to neighborhood homes for approx. 30-45 minutes. When
everyone returns we'll be treated with hot chocolate & cookies. We'll then
continue on with the normal Pack meeting activities, and close as normal.
To give you another idea, we did something entirely differant last year. We
worked with the local nursing home to obtain the names of their residents
(many who don't have family or friends during the holidays). A paper Christmas
tree was put on the wall with round paper ornaments that had the name of a
resident on it. Each Cub came up & took an ornament with a name. We then
distributed art materials to make Cub-made holiday greeting cards. We also
gathered together after the cards were made & decorated a large holiday banner
that was hung in the nursing homes dining hall. The Cubs enjoyed this project,
and the nursing home residents were appreciative.
The year prior, we had a Holiday Pack Meeting where Holiday traditions of
differant lands were the theme for the ceremonies, skits, songs, etc.. Extra
skits & songs were added to the normal schedule. At this Pack meeting we also
had St. Nick visit with treats.
Hope this is helpful.
