Physically Challanged: Sports Belt Loops

The sport belt loops can be a great opportunity for other scouts to
learn about scouts with disabilities. If your unit is mixed, having the
"normal" scouts adjust to the other scouts challenge could be a useful
lesson for everyone involved. Activities like wheelchair basketball to
satisfy the requirements for the basketball belt loop, blind baseball (a
"beeping" ball held stationary) for baseball and the like could be used.
You might want to look into your local special olympics. If your scouts
are involved, they could earn their loops through the practice and
Government recreation agencies as well as Goodwill Industries might be
able to advise on things as well.
