I am the webmaster for http://usscouts.org. The counter digits used at
USSSP's website are the ones that I developed for The NetCommish website
with the idea of having a smaller set of graphics than other similar ones
out on the net at the time. The entire digit set is available for download
there for free. If you visit the front page, you will find a counter at the
bottom with a link to the download on that page. You will get a
self-extracting zip file (virus checked with Norton Anti-Virus). The zip
file has smaller files for each digit that you can use with commercial
counter providers that allow you to upload a digit set or with some of the
freeware/shareware counters available on the net. This set is available at
http://members.aol.com/netcommish/. This will save you the frustration of
trying to figure out how to "borrow" the images at USSSP - the whole set is
not accessable at one time.
Regarding use of materials at both http://usscouts.org and
http://members.aol.com/netcommish, please read the copyright notices at the
bottom of each page. These notices protect our original work, but allow its
use free of charge for Scouting purposes, with the exception of our logos
and identifying marks. In both cases the websites were built with the
express purpose of collecting and distributing Scouting resources for
Scouters. The http://usscouts.org website in particular has a vast
storehouse of web based resources in html amounting to somewhere in the
neighborhood of 2000 or more web pages. We also operate a library of images
and documents amounting to some 15,000 files at
http://clipart.usscouts.org -- all of which you can browse and use for free.
We have images developed for web use; e.g., .gif and .jpg color images and
graphics that are black & white suitable for unit/district/council
newsletters and publications. You can even download maps of Philmont from
the site. Additional resources are available at team member websites like
If you haven't visited http://usscouts.org in awhile stop by our home page
and click on the tab labeled "New at USSSP" to see what has recently been
added. We also feature a ScoutNews area with information gleaned from many
Internet sources. We also have a "New on Web" tab that leads to a listing
of new Scouting resources on the web other than our own website. We
continue to add new content regularly thanks to many Scouters who have
Want to find out where to get a semaphore animated graphic for your
homepage? Stop by and you'll find a link to an absolutely fantastic site
that allows you to create a custom animation for free.
We also have some free animations that we created just for fun for you.
Stop by the animations page and feel free to borrow. We'll have more in
coming months as time allows.
We are delighted to be of service and absolutely tickled to have registered
over 972,000 hits on our files at http://usscouts.org and over 389,000 at
http://clipart.usscouts.org in the month of October.
