To BOR or not to BOR?
Tue, 3 Nov 1998 09:20:53 -0800
Quick Background... Our CO is the Rotary Club and on Holloween night
they held a "safe-streets" for local kids.... The asked us to supply
six (6) Scouts from our troop to pick-up/deliver candy... stuff like
that... about 2 1/2 hrs of hanging out basically....
Our SPL announced at the CoH we held last week that he expected that each
patrol would supply one person for this detail (my word). Who showed
up? The SPL (and his fathr who is head of recuritment)... one of our 2
ASPL's (my son... and me who is advancment chair) and a Patrol Leader
(who father is the SM but dad is away on business) 3..count them 3
Now,... last night two of the other Patrol Leaders ( currently
a 1st Class and a Star) approached me seperately and each told
me that as he would soon be fullfilling the requirement of serving in a
position of responsibility, that he would like to have his BoR scheduled
asap after this date....
My feelings?... as Advancement Chair and BoR Coordinator I am not
feeling any to much in a hurry to ask myself and others to jump (my word)
to meet their needs.....
what do you think?
