One of the most common errors on the Eagle Scout application is
the placement of the date of presentation of the merit badge,
instead of the date earned. Please verify this. Frequently the
dates on the application come from the presentation card and of
course these are dated at the court of honor, not the date
earned. The Life date, is kept at the BOR date which is before
the Court of Honor. If that is not the case, then you may have
an adult screw up problem. If this is the case, write to me off
line and I will tell you how I would handle it.

Subject: Early Life Board of Review
In my capacity as a member of the District Advancement
Committee, I will
be at an Eagle Board of Review this weekend. In reviewing the
application, and records from the Council Office, it appears
that at the
time of the Life Board of Review (2/14/95), the scout had earned
Merit badges (including 7 required MB's). He apparently earned
Merit Badge on 7/28/95. Assuming the dates are correct, what do
Hopefully, there was another MB earned Before 2/14/95, but I
is the case.
We can't have the Life BoR now and then hold an Eagle BoR in 6
since (1) he's over 18, and (2) the project would have been done
he was a Star Scout.
Had the Life BoR been held after 7/28/95, he would have had much
than 6 months as a Life Scout, and met all the other
we include a letter stating the error and asking that the
for Life be changed to 7/28/95?
Any suggestions or personal experiences with this type of snafu?
For those on scouts-l, please respond both to the list and to me
since I get the digest, and want to see the responses ASAP.
