I wonder, what is the real issue here that gives question as to
whether youth should drink coffee? I know that "tradition" as I have
experienced it says it is an adult beverage that is not suitable for
young people. Why is that? We say it is the amount of caffeine. But
if this is the reason, that flies in the face of total logic of what
is prevalent & common in our society today of the soft drink beverages
that are consumed by the gallons - by young people & all. Compared to
some of the soft drinks some young people drink, the amount of
caffeine in coffee is a spit in the bucket.
I think our hang-up about youth drinking coffee comes from tradition,
and is not based on sound reason & judgement. I would say tho, that I
don't think ANY of that stuff is good for them (sodas included).
