Someone responded re: filtering iodine treated water
if you're going to purify your water using an iodine

Iodine treatments (or other chemical treatments) will not
neutralize all Giardia cysts within the recommended 30 minute
contact time. It will take more like 8 hours for the Iodine to
neutralize 99.9% of the cysts.
Careful about chemical treatment - a mechanical purifier with a .2
micron (or less) filter pore size is the thing.
I know, I know. I worry too much about Giardia.
